Let's learn how to cable this Tutorial Thursday! If you're new to cabling, think of it as glorified ribbing where you knit stitches out of order now and again.

In this video, I show you how to work basic left/front and right/back cables over 4 stitches. Watch for yourself or follow these steps:

To work a ↖️ left-leaning cable, slip 2 stitches onto a cable needle and hold them to the front of the work. Knit the next 2 stitches on the left-hand needle and then knit the 2 stitches from the cable needle.

To work a ↗️ right-leaning cable, slip 2 stitches onto a cable needle and hold the needle to the back of the work. Knit the next 2 stitches from the left-hand needle and then knit the 2 stitches from the cable needle.

When you're feeling confident enough to try it on your own, take a peek at the East River Hat.
